Ludvig Harrigan, Comprehensive Demolition
St. Croix, USVI
This west-end public housing community was significantly damaged during the 2017 hurricanes. A complete demolition occurred on nine existing single, two, and three-story buildings, and a community center on approximately eight acres. Site work included demolition of landscaping, amenities, and utilities. Seismic monitoring systems were put in place and remained in place during demolition to ensure surrounding structures would not suffer from any incidental vibration caused by the demolition. Preconstruction (complete) and post-construction video surveys were taken of the surrounding structures to provide adequate data. The use of a high-powered water cannon to assist with dust and small debris control was a new implementation for this type of project.
