National Park Service Replace Office Space & Housing
St. John, USVI
J. Benton Construction is proud to have completed the National Park Service project at Lind Point, St. John. Funded through Public Law 115-123, this initiative addressed the extensive damage inflicted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. The project involved the construction of a new science office building, an artifact storage facility, and employee housing, all crucial to restoring the park’s operations and preserving the natural and cultural resources of the US Virgin Islands.
Our scope of work included comprehensive design and site work that surpassed environmental protection standards, particularly concerning erosion control and soil transport. The new facilities replaced those rendered unusable by the storms, ensuring that the National Park Service could continue its vital work with enhanced capabilities and improved infrastructure.
Throughout the two-year construction period, Lind Point Trail remained open to the public, with designated parking spaces available to minimize disruption. J. Benton Construction delivered a project that not only met but exceeded expectations, contributing to the long-term resilience and functionality of the National Park Service’s facilities on St. John.
