VI Water & Power Authority, Christiansted Underground Phase II
St. Croix, USVI
In an effort to increase reliability and decrease down time after inclement weather, WAPA began a mitigation project to replace their aging aerial infrastructure in downtown Christiansted. J. Benton completed the installation of miles of conduit duct banks, manholes, transformer vaults, pull boxes for primary and secondary electrical, telephone, internet and cable utilities under the active streets. Funding deadlines imposed on WAPA by the Federal Government required the project to be executed under a compressed schedule during the heart of the busy holiday and tourist season. With a dedicated and creative management and labor team, J. Benton successfully completed this project ahead of the deadline while maintaining safe access for pedestrians and vehicles to the shops, restaurants and businesses downtown.
